Das französische Magazin Focus Numérique hat Toru Katsumoto und Masaaki Kojima auf der photokina über die zukünftigen Sony Alphas befragt:

ZITATFocus Numérique: Many experts used SLRs [?] are very attached to optical viewfinders, including the excellent models inherited from Minolta. Why did you choose an electronic viewfinder for your next expert body?

Toru Katsumoto (Alpha development manager): Our semitransparent mirror technology has some advantages. Video, of course, but also burst rates: the Alpha 55 reaches 10 frames per second with continuous autofocus. The electronic viewfinder can also preview the resulting image precisely. After the launch of the Alpha 33 and 55, the critics were actually more positive than what we expected ourselves. In addition, we are working on new models of electronic viewfinders, much more efficient, and we therefore decided to use this type of viewfinder for our next model.

Focus Numérique: Should we expect to see the end of optical viewfinders, or are there going to be two parallel lines? What will you take for "Full Frame" successors of the Alpha 850 and 900?

Toru Katsumoto: The decision has not yet been made, especially for devices with 24x36 mm sensor. I think that electronic viewfinders will compete for the same optical sights these devices [?], but not in the near future, given the very high resolution of an optical viewfinder with 24x36 mm.

[...]

Focus Numérique: [...] Devices without mirror are more discreet than SLRs, but there is always the sound of the shutter. Is it possible to eliminate this?

Toru Katsumoto: Honestly, at the end of 2010, we do not have the technology to do without a mechanical shutter. On a CMOS sensor, the reading is done pixel by pixel, and it takes time to travel across the sensor: this is the origin of the phenomenon of a "rolling shutter" on video. We need to profoundly improve the electronic in order to simultaneously read the whole image, and it will probably not be possible for several more years.[/quote]
Viele Grüße,

Matthias
