Für die Cyber-shot DSC-HX60/60V, DSC-HX400/400V, DSC-WX220 und DSC-WX350 bietet Sony die Firmware 2.00 an, die neben Stabilitätsverbesserungen auch die Möglichkeit zum Fernsteuern von Videos über passende Smartphones oder Tablet-Computer nachrüstet (bisher geht das nur für Fotos). Für letztere Funktion wird allerdings zusätzlich auch noch die PlayMemories-Applikation "Smart Remote Control" in der Version 3.01 oder höher benötigt. Diese wird als Teil der "PlayMemories Camera Apps" (erst) ab Ende September downloadbar sein.
