I first got a taste of M-42 lenses, when through this forum; I was introduced to the Zenitar 16mm fisheye lens. Finding an adapter that would focus to infinity was my first task. I sanded down a generic one, but it wasn’t quite right and then once again through this forum, I found one from a French seller. Having been bit by the M-42 bug I then went on ebay to see what other primes were available. I picked up a Russian 135 2.8 at a good price, but used it mostly with my Minolta X-370 for easier focusing. I do love the smoothness of the focus on these lenses. I saw some discussions of home made adapters which put the electronics on the M-42 adapter and immediately was interested. When Haoda Fu made available an adapter with electronics that would accept four different lenses, 50mm, 85mm, 135mm and 200mm, the price was reasonable so I ordered one.


I received the adapter, however, there were no accompanying instructions and as noted previously, my first attempts did not work at all. I contacted Haoda and he sent me the instruction sheet, I really wish I had it from the start, oh well. This time it worked as advertised. It worked without flash and with flash, the focus confirmation and the AS worked as designed and my bad eyesight and shaky hands were delighted with the results. I tried to make this as scientific as possible and to make this review as objective as possible.


Below are some examples, all were handheld with AS on, the young lady is an actress friend shot with a flash. I know I am stating the obvious, but focus confirm for any aperture smaller than 5.6.


I would recommend this adapter to anyone!
